What do you think about this?

Experts and Band Veterans...I have a question. I was banded on Thursday (9/27) and I am on full liquids. However, some of the things I'm allowed, I wouldn't really consider a liquid. I'm allowed pudding, yogurt and baby food fruit and applesauce. I'm not allowed creamy or blended Soups until the mushies phase. Seems to me they are the same consistency but whatever. My question is this. Do you think it would be ok to have egg drop Soup in this phase? Or would the egg cause my stomach to start the digestion process that is undesirable so soon after surgery?

Thanks

the longer you can stay on liquids the longer your band will have to heal in place and adhere with scare tissue. this keep the band from slipping later. i never eat eggs. if your going to eat id try something low risk, but eggs are not good for most people , they just clog up . good luck and go slow.......

With all that said I bet you could have the Soup and dont eat the eggs and be ok. Everytime I have egg drop soup it is mostly broth. So if you want that flavor of broth with out eatting the eggs then It would be the same as broth.

Strain it = liquid.< /p>

On the subject of eggs. Soo weird. I can do non-scrambled eggs just fine. Scrambled ones tend to take too long to pass. I've not PBed on them, but I've thought I might.

I should specify - real eggs. Unprocessed. The crap that cafeterias use that comes out of a milk carton tends to stick, but I can do it. Haven't PBed on it, but it doesn't taste anywhere near good enough to justify the 30 mins between bites.

I had scrambled eggs the other day and could not get them to go down.. even tried putting ketchup on them.. nada.

But if I fry them or something, you think they'll go down better?

I can do anything except the little pieces. Give it a try. I like over medium with some cheese sprinkled on top. Mmm.

Egg drop Soup with no egg, is chicken broth with some fresh ginger, soy sauce and green onion. Skip the green onion too or use onion powder and you can get close. Also you can thicken it a bit with corn starch if you want it a little thicker.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
