Anyone use Dr. Adam Smith in Fort Worth?

Recommended Posts

He will be doing my surgery on Oct 24th and I am very excited. I chose him for many reasons but also because he has the lapband and the other Dr. in his office is the one who put it in...also there are several in his office that he has banded...he also does only lap band....so there is no concern that he would try to persuade you to getting gastric..I did all my preop appts this week and started my low carb diet yesterday.

I am also going to be banded by Dr Smith (for many of the same reasons listed by "Godzgurl75").

I really like the fact that he is a LAPBAND "patient" as well as a physician. I think this makes him more sympathetic and understanding of what we are going through.

Not to mention, his whole office staff is awesome! I have never met a more helpful group of people :)

I attended his seminar on August 28th... went for my initial appointment on September 12th... got my approval from UHC on October 10th... and am scheduled for surgery on November 21st (the day before Thanksgiving).

I was super impressed at how hard the staff at LBS worked to make this happen. I am in a situation at work where I cannot take off any time right now (company just merged with another division and relocated to another town, and no time off is being permitted for anyone)... so, I really needed to have my surgery done the day before Thanksgiving so I could have recovery time without having to take any additional days off work.

Dr Smith and his staff were awesome about making this happen for me :)

I researched several other local WLS physicians, and did not feel comfortable with any of them until I met Dr. Smith.

You are making a good decision :D

Everyone I have talked to that is his patient has nothing but good things to say about him (even the few who had complications).

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
