When does turning point begin?

Today is day 4 for me, and right now - all I've thought is, "what did I do to myself"? When does the change occur? When does the stomach pain with swallowing stop? When will I stop being dizzy? When will I get some energy back? Right now, all I want to do is sleep.

Very low cals = little energy = sleep a lot. Makes sense. Your body expends calories just to function.

Spend your time awake trying to slowly attain your nutritional goals. The better you do, the longer you can stay awake, the better you can attain said nutritional goals. Think of it as a cycle.

It'll be like this for a while.

Day 2 for me and I feel exactly the same as you. I know eventually it'll get better but I'm very uncomfortable right now

the pain from swallowing makes it a challenge to get in the fluids. I've been doing a fair job, but this morning my pee is a little on the dark side. I just hope that this pain (gas pain/air pain - whatever it is) isn't part of the new way of life. I found a tip on here to exhale through your nose before swallowing - and I try to do that, but I still get pain. It totally makes sense that it's from swallowing because it's immediate - can almost follow the feel of liquid swallowed down to the tummy and up comes the painful bubble.

Popsicles and ice chips are helpful in the beginning. That way you're getting some Water and the cooling from it kind of helps things going down the pipe.

Your energy is going to be low for the first two weeks. You're barely taking anything in and you're body has just undergone a major change. Each individual is going to recovery differently, but you should start to see a change soon enough in how you're feeling. The first week really sucked for me, but the second week I started to see a difference and from there it got better and better.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
