Anyone else feel this way?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 2/10. So far I've lost 24 lbs. I'm having emotional issues with not being able to enjoy the foods I once did. It gets a lot harder when your loved ones stand or sit in front you, crunching away (loudly I might add) on one of your favorite Snacks. Even after previously asking them to stop. Today I just feel like crying.

I was sleeved on 1/26 and I felt that way too. It gets better and pretty quickly too. It did for me anyway. That doesn't make how you feel this moment any better. It gets better I promise.

God yes! I wanted to resent everyone around me. Any diet I've ever been on has felt this way to me. This time is different because I just can't cheat. It's too soon after surgery and my body is healing.

One thing I finally accepted is that I can't expect to change everyone around me. I can only control how I react to each situation. I actually made my husband a pie yesterday:-). He's skinny as a rail. He body is different than mine and I just can't eat like he does. Telling myself this takes the blame game out of the equation.

My husband very generously says that I have a very efficient metabolism️. His sweet way of saying that I just don't need as much food as he does. He's right and I'm now ok with that.

Try to view your situation in a similar, loving way. It might help you better deal with your unique situation.

Take care

I had my surgery on February 9th and have been cooking for my daughter. So far it doesn't bother me so much. For me once I hit my goals and am in maintenance I know I'll be able to integrate things in. Does it mean I will never have a bite of cake again or a chicken wing?! Heck no. Just not right now.

The thing is, my husband isn't a rail. He said before I was sleeved that this will give him an opportunity to eat better & lose some weight too. Except he's not doing any of that. He's given up Diet Pepsi & doesn't drink beer as often. That's not helping me though. This isn't an everyday feeling that I have. It's just today has been a hard day.

Some days are tough and you'll always be faced with these situations. If not with your husband... with someone else. Family, friends coworkers. The only thing you can control is you. I understand you might want your husband to journey with you but he's got to be motivated and ready on his own. But you can set the example and if he sees how well you are doing.. he may just want what to make those changes.

Find ways to deal with your emotions in a positive way. Maybe take a walk, or go out and do some retail therapy. Get your nails done. Do something for you.

Oh hell yes! Totally normal! And yes...it WILL pass. I am 6 weeks out..and can enjoy most foods again...just very small amounts. And best of all..just KNOWING I can have anything..is enough to keep me on track and making the right choices. Hang in there..and leave the room when they are snacking.

I'm almost 4 weeks post op and I feel this way all the dang time. So much that I've isolated myself from other people when I know they're going to eat. But everyone says this will pass, and I trust the wise people here, so let's hang in there :780_sparkling_heart:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
