Hello! I had the surgery on March 8, 2017, too. Glad to finally get off the liquid diet and have started on soft foods. My high weight was 284 lbs. in January. When I went in for surgery on March 8, I weighed 261 lbs. I weighed in at 241 lbs. this morning

(April 15). How's your energy level? Have you been walking yet?

Yes, soft foods have been amazing! I was very ready for some variety. My high was 316, 278 on the day of surgery and 254 this morning. I have been walking, trying to do 30 mins 3x per week. My doctor released me at 3 weeks to start exercise agajn as I had before, so I do a 1 he LesMills Bodypump class 2x per week. I struggle meeting my fluids goal of 64, but Protein is no problem. I get afraid it didn't work correctly for me, I havent had any issues eating anything. Too much of something makes me really full, but I have nowhere near as much difficulty as I have heard from some. What are some of your favorites to make?

i've had a lot of success with those 2.5 oz tuna and salmon pre-flavored packets, ground chicken with taco seasoning and some cheddar cheese, re-fried Beans, egg salad, smoked salmon with capers and cream cheese, scrambled eggs and a fage yogurt for Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. it's a good enough variety and super tasty. glad you're feeling great! keep up the good work.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
