Exercise?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

was banded last Tuesday 09/18. I had my follow-up appointment today, and forgot to ask when I can start exercising. I've been trying to walk as much as possible, but my energy level is still pretty low, and I think being a little more active might help this.

How long do you think I should wait before going to the gym?<

Also, I have a week and a half of liquids left - it's so hard! I want to chew! My new favorite food is 4 oz of fat-free refried Beans mixed with 4 oz of chicken broth and some seasonings. Who knew I'd crave beany mush? But it's really satisfying, high in Protein, and allows me to get some Fiber, too.

That sounds yummie!!!

I was told not to go back to the gym for one month...especially with working anything from the waist up! My doctor said just to walk on regular ground, and then in a few weeks I can get back into the gym. Shockingly...I'm anxious to get back! LOL

My Dr said 6 weeks bf I go back to the gym. However, I can walk right now. I walk about 2 miles a day and I am very anxious to go back to the gym.

I love to workout-- especially aerobics classes. It makes me feel like I am a backup dancer for Britney! hahaha

I was told 6 weeks before any ab work or "heavy lifting". I have been walking about 20 minutes a day trying to establish the habit of daily exercise. I did do an elliptical machine the other day with one of my friends who is in the army and really in shape and I was going so slow on it it kept shutting off. :faint: Kind of embarrassing. I had forgotten how hard those things were. When I was in college I used to do them for 45 minutes and yesterday I thought I was going to die after 2 minutes. Anyway I switched over to the recumbent bike, thankfully it didn't shut off!

I am anxious to get back to the gym too! I want to tone before anything else starts hanging!!! I believe it is 6 weeks for gym stuff and now for the walking outside - easy brisk walking.

I'm only 5 days post-op, but I feel good enough to get on an elliptical, without using the arms (just holding onto the fixed handles). I go to my doctor on Friday, and I'll see what he has to say. I'm just shocked by my energy level. Considering I'm averaging 300 calories a day on the liquid diet, I feel rejuvenated. Of course, if I had to stay on this diet for another couple of weeks, I might feel a lot different. I'm looking forward to Protein Shakes next week! :)

My dr told me on Thursday - that I can do the treadmill or stationary bike - but no weights at all. I am 2 weeks out btw! I am ready to get back to it and help the band with this weight problem, once and for all!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
