Hi, really interested in the fact that your doctor didn't put you on the liquid diet. I have had feedback from another person who was banded 2 years ago and didn't do the diet either despite needing to loose 150lbs. what reason did your doctor give for you not needing to do the diet?

I have my surgery on Saturday 6th October here in Sydney, Aust. Doing my best with the liquids so far. would like to keep in touch.

cheers!

Hi Jude, I am actually in Perth, great to hear there are other Aussies out there using this great website.

My BMI is on the lower end of the scale for those patients my Dr operates on. The reason he gave me was, that he thought my liver would not be excessively fatty due to the lower BMI, and he didn't think it necessary to go on the liquid diet.< /p>

Would love to keep in contact also, and go luck on the 6th.

Hello to all the October folks... We have a group started for encouragement and support under "Monthly Support Groups" and the October 07 thread... We have a "Roll Call" thread that lists everyone that is having their surgery in October... We would like for you to come on over and get your name added to the list... Our group is called TENacious TENS....

Hey everyone!

I hope you all can find use for it!

Good luck and lots of loss fellow bandsters!!

Hi everyone and good luck on your surgeries.

I just had my surgery wednesday, and one thing I couldn't do without - a great tasting, moisturizing lip balm/gloss. I actually borrowed one from a visitor of mine and she let me keep it! I also would put a little vaseline on my teeth to keep my lips from sticking (I was SOOO dry after the operation).

Wow! Thanks! That will be very helpful. I'm embarassed to say I don't know what toilet tongs are. I'm afraid I probably don't want to know!

Hi All,

Of course, you are welcome for the list! We are all in this together and I am glad to help my fellow bandsters in any way!

The tongs, according to the other thread is used to help reach around to the "behind" since your tummy will be very sore after surgery. Very good idea, however funny!!

I will upate the list to add the lip balm. Very good idea, and thanks!

Happy Banding everyone.

PS, it looks like my surgery will be put back to November now, due to scheduling problems with some of my pre-op appointments. No problem, I think due to all the holidays it would be better anyway. It will also keep me from the Holiday Overeating!! Bravo!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
