Change Insurance Policies/Companies

Recommended Posts

I currently have Insurance under my Husbands employer. Their plan EXCLUDES this type of surgery. Has anyone ran into the same problem? I am wondering if I can get my own individual policy and he can drop me off of his OR are there secondary policies that would help me cover this?

I believe to drop ypu from his policy you have to have a qualifying event. He cant just drop you just because. I am an Ins Agent and you would need to look into a secondary ins.

Ok, thank you for the information! Do you know if a Secondary insurance will pick up this type of procedure?

I would research all options in your area. To see if they do or dont cover it and what their requirements are google or call.

If you are shopping for individual policies (coverage that is not provided through an employer) they are not likely to cover bariatric surgery. People would just sign up to get an expensive surgery paid for and then drop the policy and the insurance co would lose money.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
