Sleeved Feb 13th

Recommended Posts

Hello all! 4 days out from my surgery and feeling well! The first two days were rough, but now I'm feeling excited and so good I need to remind myself lot rest. I've tried Greek yogurt and pudding, but it seems like every time I eat I feel like I have this burp bubble in the chest. Am I eating to fast? Too much?

This is normal and likely to last for a few more days. In my first week or so, I was getting a gurgle every sip I took. Just eat slowly. Picture your stomach the size of a banana, but incredibly swollen from the trauma. It takes time for soft foods and liquid to work its way down into the bottom of your sleeve when it's swollen like it is, and it will displace air. As the swelling goes down, you'll experience less gurgling and be able to eat and drink more at once.

Hello everyone.

I was sleeved on 2/15/17.

2 days home now and very bad gas bloat, hoping this goes away. Acid reflux has been keeping me up at night. I also have chills, no fever. That one im kinda thinking has to do with my surgery bc we put our bodies thru a lot.

Good luck to all and wishing everyone speedy recovery.

We're sleeve twins! I was sleeved on 2/13 also. I just started eating meat, per my NUT guidelines. So far I have not had very many issues and have had little to no discomfort or pain. How is your journey going?

I was lucky and was able to take a full 4 weeks from work. Which was nice so I could just focus on my new eating habits and healing. I can eat about one and a half chicken legs. I bake them in the oven add a little lemon pepper. I ate two full chicken legs last night (no sides just straight chicken) and regretted it. I didn't think those two-three extra bites would matter much but I could feel the overfullness. I drink the Protein Shake in the morning for Breakfast to help make sure I am getting enough Protein. I also broil small lean pork chops or the frozen tilapia fillets their about 3-4 ounces. I can eat one of those with maybe a tablespoon of mash potato or a 1/4 cup of chopped steamed squash. The large incision is the only one that still kinda bugs me. But the other ones just look like little scratches now lol. I hate that my stomach gurgles all the time. My friend who is a few years post surgery said it goes away eventually. I made myself a small "splurge" breakfast to get a break from the shake this morning, one egg, and three of those Farmer John "lil Smokies" THREE! I use to eat 4 eggs and like 20 of those smokies. It's amazing the difference.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
