can you have seltzer water on pre op diet?

I know seltzer isn't allowed post op but can I have it on liquid pre-op? I'm day 1 and struggling and the carbonation usually fills me.

I was told no. The longer you can go without, the easier it will be down the road too. Good luck, you got this!

That should of said caffeine drinks. You need to get your brain on track with what is going to be your new, healthier and skinner you. Start it now cause post-op you're going to be dealing with enough changes. I can have caffiene drinks after 3 months. Caffeine messes with healing.

I didn't have a pre-op diet. I only had to lose 10 pounds before surgery. I am drinking one diet coke a day. My surgery is Wednesday. Personally I can't see how a pre-op no calorie no caffeine seltzer would hurt. It's not like you're eating a Big Mac. That said, I understand the theory behind having a pre-op diet prepare you for post-op. Maybe I'll struggle more than someone who had a strict one. Maybe I won't. Bottom line, always follow your doctor's plan.

I already gave up caffeine coffee tea weeks ago and gave up seltzer which I lived on . Just have few bottles left and was wondering if I could have . I find the zero calorie waters like Vitamin Water and propel so sweet .

No carbonated drinks, they're trying to shrink your liver and to give them space in your belly to do laparoscopic. And afterwards you could not drink anything carbonated for a long time because the carbonation will make your stomach get gas in it and it'll make your stomach expand making you able to eat more in the future. Plus the carbonation can eat at your incision inside and cause you to have complications. Definitely not worth it

It's more about setting yourself up for life than about shrinking your liver (in relation to the carbonation). Not to mention carbonation is terrible for your kidneys

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
