Sleeve to Bypass Revision

Recommended Posts

Hi , I had my sleeve 2 yeas ago and I only lost 25 lbs, I did everything right, but nothing happened ☹️ now I am very frustrated . My hunger never left and now I started to gain weight. MyDr suggest a bypass and I am afraid . I hope this work for you. Let us know how are you doing. [emoji847]

Oh wow we share the same story seems like I'm a bit nervous also especially when I told my doctor I wanted a bypass to begin with but he kept pushing me towards the sleeve now I have to go back in for what I originally wanted sad and I'm scheduled for the 14th which seems so far away

Did they make the sleeve too large? You eat so little with the sleeve generally. Not to be rude, I don't understand how you don't loose weight. Do you think there's something else going on that another weight loss surgery won't fix?

So this surgeon made it too large. That's not good. But revision surgeris are higher risk. Did he tell you that? I am not in your shoes. But I would research all the issues with the bypass long-term before you make this decision. Unless this surgery is literally life or death for you. You may lose weight and not be healthy

I had my sleeve 2 years ago , I am 55 then my metabolism is slow. Have been very hard because I eat small portions. One of the problems is the carbs, i try to avoid them but the cravings are always there.

If a surgeon did my sleeve and I didn't lose weight. I would not let that same surgeon do the revision. They screwed up the first time. I wouldn't trust them a 2nd time.

Truth. I would get a second and third opinion.

I would not be too happy with your doctor. I have not had surgery yet but I wanted the sleeve but have had gerd for years. In my consult I mentioned this to the doc. He said," yes gerd can get worse. He said I always can have a revision." I said No!!! Im not having 2 surgeries. He a littke later confessed to me the sleeve procedure is easier and faster.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
