Hello lovely people.

I've just descided to take the plunge and have a lap band fitted. I'm in Scotland and so surgery can be cheaper in other places round Europe. I've descided to go for a surgeon in Prague, checkoslovakia. The surgeon is a leader here in Europe at lapband surgery.

I don't want to have to travel to Prague when I need a fill, is there anyone in Scotland who can help?

Hi Lynsay

Try the Nuffield. I know that they do bariatric surgery in the Nuffield in Glasgow.

Hi Lynsay

I was only banded on 10th sept- so its early days. I was on the NHS waiting list for 2years + and then given 2 weeks notice to have surgery (waiting list initiative in glasgow).

I was terrified - but - for me at least it was absolutely no problem. There is very little pain - a bit of trapped wind for a couple of days- but no pain relief needed after the first 2 days. The first week I had absolutely no appetite. Now there is some hunger feelings but when I eat (I am on Soups and puddings only for 4 weeks) I am quickly full. I hope that I will get my first fill at 4 weeks post op. Please feel free to send me a private message if you want to discuss anything.

Hi

My name is Bernie and i'm from Newcastle Upon Tyne....just had my band fitted 5 days ago at the Nuffield Hospital in Leeds...I know that the Nuffield in Glasgow also do the lapband so it might be worth giving them a ring to see if they do fills... Do you have a date for your op....let me know how you come on...

Speak to you soon

Hi Lyndsay, I had my Op with Bodies Beautiful and Prof Fried, the Hospital staff and Prof Fried were great, the after care not so good in my opinion, i haven't had any follow up from the hospital and i have had to find my own help, go for the OP dont worry you wont feel hungry until your first fill is due, good luckEmail me anytime. jeannie.

Lynsay - Just a quick shout out to you. I don't have any answer to your question as I am in the US but I had to say hi when I saw you were posting from Aberdeen.

I graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2002. I really miss being over there. In fact I was just viewing some webcams of Castlegate & Aberdeen Harbour this afternoon daydreaming about when I might be able to afford a visit.

Hi Bernie

I think (hope) that my first fill will be on Oct 12th which will be around 5 weeks post op. To be honest I got very little info about post op - most of what I have learned is from this and other online sites. I'm sure that you will feel a bit better next week

Pain easing with each day...I'm eating a lot better to...no bloated feeling afterwards....Maxine can i ask if you FEEL hungry....Are you on a soft diet yet??? I'm getting really sick of SOUP!....I can't believe its been a week tommorrow since i was banded... it's flown! I have an appointment with the dietician in 3 weeks time and she'll hopefully give me a date for my fill which should be 2 weeks after that.....i have to travel back down to leeds for my appointments and fills... I have to see the dietician once a month for a year which will be a bit of a pain and an EXPENSE.....but worth it in the end i suppose!

Hope everyone is well

Speak to you all soon

HI Bernie

Yes I do feel hungry- but it seems to go quickly once i Have eaten. I am also sick of Soup but i have made & bought a varierty so that there is some variation. I have to be on liquids for at leat 4 weeks, so I have also eaten jelly, custard, yoghurts (which I hate) and fruit smoothies. I have asked the surgeon for a referal to a dietitian (does not seem to be the norm here!) so hopefully she will help once i am on solid food. It seems strange that there are so many different regimens for post diet doesn't it!

Take care

Maxine

Hi Maxine

Hope your well....I only have another week before i move onto a soft diet where i can eat, porridge, yoghurts, scrammbled egg, mashed pot, cottage pie etc.....anythings got to be better than SOUP!:hungry:

How's your weight loss coming on...i'm now 12 pounds lighter...it would have took me around 3 or 4 month to lose that at weight watchers....I'm finding sleeping much better now too...i was sleeping almost upright but i can now sleep on my side again....still have a lot of back pain though....do you still get pain or has it eased off now???? If it has how long was it after your op??? I've tried to cut and paste a weight counter like the one you have but can't get it to work...Do you have to cut and paste it onto every message you write???

Speak to you soon

I'm having an early night:notagree

Back to work Monday:mad:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
