Wouldn't call it a funeral, but...

Recommended Posts

I am overseas and will be here for at least a couple more years. I have an adult son who is here too, and our lives have been food.

There are places I know I won't be able to eat at again and I am feeling a little sad about that. All you can eat Korean BBQs, sushi go rounds, a full bowl of ramen, and even Starbucks during the month of February for my bi-weekly Sakura drink. They aren't going away or changing but I am. I feel sad that not only will I not have the same experiences, I would be going to my son's favorite place because it makes no sense to pay $30 for 6-8oz a year out from now for just my meal.

I am feeling sad about it. These were things we did together. It is not quite a food funeral but is pretty close.

I am having some of the same feelings about things like sodas and smoking......I try to think of it as a end to the dying me!! I tell myself these things are why I can no longer run and play with my kids. We as well have many memories and traditions that I will miss but I told my family we can make new memories and traditions. Change is not always bad and life sometimes require change in order to be happy!

From time to time I think about what it's going to mean for me not to be going out to eat with my husband on date nights and my family on Sundays after church. We don't go out too often, but I do still think about all the money I can save, and still even go out to eat but enjoy a few bites, but mostly find alternative things to do other than food. Walk on the beach (yeah, I live by the beach), concerts, ferry rides, rodeo, cirque de soleil, outlet malls (definitely doing this)! I'm training my mind now that food is fuel, sure, we can enjoy it, but it's not what is going to control me. I'll be controlling it. :)

I get it. My husband and I enjoyed our eating out dates, trying new places and new foods. And I won't go to all you can eats or spend $11.00 gor 4 bites of food. Not happening. HOWEVER, we do eat out maybe 2x a mth but only at places that will let me order 1/2 plates or off the kids menu (not too many choices here) and I still have left overs. Good luck

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
