Will I know if I'm full?? I had my surgery on Monday the 6th 2017, and I think I'm doing okay on Water...

It hurts to walk straight up...

I admit it took me some time and finally a called my doctor's office for some advice on problems I was having. I waited until 3 weeks post op before calling. Call! They are there to help us but if we don't call them they don't know we need help. I don't think you're in any kind of danger but you need advice from you doctor. I want to encourage you to call them. I made a world of difference to me to get some help from the source! Good luck, hope you feel better soon!

It's hard to eat much right now, your tummy is still swollen. Right now you are only on liquids. Just sip sip sip. Once you go to the pureed foods you will start to feel and understand what your new "full" feels like but it takes time. For pureed food keep it to 2 ozs. I could barely get that much in at the time but I always measured and now I still do to make sure I get 4oz.

In the first few weeks it is very difficult to reach our Water and Protein goals. The object is to just keep trying to obtain it. Keep a journal/log of your intakes. I did that for the first 3 months, written down, just to make sure I was slowly increasing my intake. I was able to hit my 64oz Water and 90oz Protein goal after 12 weeks but I just kept trying. My doc said that was the right way to do it.

Also, don't hesitate to call your docs office. I was a complete and utter nuisance to them for the first 8 weeks. *shrugs* oh well. lol! It's my health and life on the line, if I had to call 3 times in one day with questions, I did. I'd call and talk to Casme, the front office Nurse, and be all, "Hi, it's MMMEEE again! This time I want to know ...." lol!

The other tip the doc told me is to just keep trying. He said that I'm healing right now and what doesn't work one day may work the next. So just keep sipping - and remember the Protein shakes doubly count towards both your protein and liquid goals.

Thank you so much! I appreciate your input. It makes sense. I feel better today.. I'm burping a lot and passing gas (tmi) and it feels amazing!

I was able to get 30 oz of Water in yesterday and 8 oz of Protein Shake. It was hard to do. Acid reflux with the shake. Hope it passes.

Good to hear you're doing well.

I can't seem to burp, but can feel the pain of one caught in my chest from time to time. Pre-sleeve, I guess I burped by pushing a bit of air down and that and more came out. I think that would hurt like heck if I tried it now...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
