two and half years out

Recommended Posts

Hello Bariatric friends,

I had my surgery on July 2 2014. I had gastric sleeve. I had lost a total of 110lbs and got to 140lbs. I have gained some weight back but am working on getting that back off. I only have about 15 -20 lbs to go to get back down to 135-140.

Anyways, for my question, has anyone experienced being very hungry (you have not eaten yet) but when it comes down to eating, you are not able to eat. Its like your body wont let you. That has been happening a lot lately. It could be my first meal of the day(breakfast). I would take a bite and then I am full after that one bite. It is really frustrating when that happens because I literally have to force myself to eat something.

Any advise?

I have heard of this on this, Several times, on BP. And if I remember correctly, it was around the 2 year mark. Personally, I have not experienced it. Maybe get hold of your nutrionist from your bariatric team for suggestions. I specifically remember at least one person coming back and mentioning the issue had resolved, but can't recall how.

On another note, it's great you have maintained your weight, relatively well. I never got down to my goal weight and have regained about 11 pounds! It's a real struggle to get it off.

Hi Danni,

I am dealing with that now. I just posted this topic looking for feed back as well. I was sleeved almost 4years ago & I gained about 15lbs back. I am freaking out right now. I want it gone.

I have not experienced what you are asking though. I just want to get this weight that I gained back off.

Starting the cabbage diet!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
