My 1st Post-Op appt

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Today I had my first post-op appt, I am 15 dpo and it went pretty well.

I was waiting in the waiting room with a lady who had surgery the same day as me and she said that she is not hungry at all, and she is loving it. I am completely oppposite than her and told her that I am hungry ALL the time!!

My dr said that it is normal to be hungry by now, and that is bc the fat under my band has shrunk and that my band is not filled and loose now.

He said that I can schedule my 1st fill for October 8 and that after that, I will feel like I did after surgery, very full all the time.

My dr also said that I might gain a couple lbs between now and my fill!!!:faint:

I told him that I have already gained 3lbs since I have been on my mushie phase. He said it is just my metabolism slowing down and trying to hang on to all the calories since I was only on liquid before. He said not to worry about gaining a few pounds bc it will happen!!

So, now I can start on a regular full diet, with a limitation of around 1200 calories. I can eat whatever I want, no more mushie or Soups are required.

I am really beating myself up over these 3 lbs that I gained back since I lost it after my surgery. I have even upped my exercise and have been walking 2 miles everyday, but I haven't been losing anymore.

If my port area still wasn't sore, I wouldn't even KNOW that I have surgery, bc I can eat ANYTHING withouth any problem.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for the 1st fill and hopefully some restriction.

wow Tulip - don't beat yourself up. It will all come off. Just try to remember small portions. I too am HUNGRY all the time! I am still on my soft not quite mushies stage. I want to eat all the time too. I am limiting myself to my three meals and slow eatting. I hope that your fill helps you. My dr doesn't do fills for THREE MONTHS after the surgery! I still have a long way before I get filled!

Woohoo Kimmie - I bet you were happy! Isn't funny how excited we get over the littlest of things?

I have been keeping a daily diary of what I eat and find that the days that I am hungry I eat more carbs and don't drink all my fluids. I have been very strict about limiting my carbs to only at night (and then very few) and drinking as much as possible (more than 8 glasses). I carry a water bottle in my pocket so I can sip all day (you can find the little 8oz ones a the grocery store). Anyway the days that I stick to this, my hunger is well controlled and i don't have difficulty sticking to my calorie limit.

I am 18 days post op and like you guys I'm hungry, but not really all that BAD. I must say that I was disappointed to find out during my 1st post op visit, that I didn't have ANY restriction. I'm taking it one day at a time and trying to change the behaviors that trigger excessive eating. So far so good. I guess what my main questions are is just how much are people able to eat after their fills, be it the 1st one or the 3rd? Also, I have concerns with menu planning and recipes. If anyone has any info, I would greatly appreciate it.

:)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
