Flavored water Questions...

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am 10 days post -op.

Do you think the sugar-free Water flavoring like crystal light ( I use Walmart brand) could be stalling my weight-loss? For some reason I can't handle drinking plain water lately and that was always my drink of choice. I'm hoping as the weather gets better and get some warmth here in Ohio my thirst for plain ice water comes back.

Hi Jay

I'm 3.5 weeks after op

I've been having icy poles not diet just normal and I've been dropping so I don't think it's stalling your weight but then I'm no doctor call your surgeon and ask

Personally, I don't think so. They don't have any sugar, calories, or carbs in them, or none to speak of anyway, so they shouldn't be stalling your weight loss. I have been drinking them since day one of my surgery. I had a really hard time drinking plain Water up until about a month or so ago. For some reason plain Water would just make me so nauseous. Hang in there. You are probably just having a slight stall, which is perfectly normal. Your body is just adjusting. You'll start losing again soon. Just hang in there. :-)

No they won't stall your weightloss! They're actually recommended to use if you're wanting something with flavor because they are sugar free, cal free and carb free. So you're good. Being only 10 days post-op, your weightloss may not be fast, contrary to popular belief. Your body just endured a surgery and your body is still healing from that. Some people don't see a drop in weight for 3-4 weeks as their swelling (internally) goes down. Just trust in the process, keep pushing those fluids, and you'll get there!

My packet thay was given to me pre surgery all said of course Water but crystal light is fine. Of course confirm with your surgeon but Water has been to heavy for me. Also not a big where drinker. So until then I have definitely been doing crystal light. Not to much of the power but enough to give it a nice taste. I'm 5 days Post op. Good luck :)

Nope, your tummy is still healing. Give yourself some grace with the weight loss while the healing process happens, the loss will come!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
