Just looking for a word of encouragement

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve on Dec. 29. As of today, I'm 30 pounds down, and 70 pounds from my goal weight. My eating has done a 360 since surgery and I eat clean and healthy. I do not eat carbs, except for a piece of wheat toast in the morning with my Vitamins (and a Protein shake). Also, I walk 30 minutes 4 or 5 times a week. Just needing a word or two of wisdom and encouragement. I'm afraid that my weight loss is going to stop.

You're doing wonderfully! It's definitely a process.. I think I lost the most around 3-4 months. It felt like it dropped a pound a day for awhile. You're going to do so much better than you think you will.

I had 150 lbs of extra weight and so far I've lost 75% of that, 112 lbs total, and I'm on my 9th month. My doctor warned me I'd stop at 60% loss. I've had a lot of fear that I wouldn't get even that. It has slowed and even stalled for month 5 and again at month 8, but it continues to drop, slowly. I'm so pleased, I've lost more than I could have dreamed. You too will surpass your goals!

You don't have to take chewables just because you had WLS. I found them really gross to the point I didn't want to take Vitamins at all even thought I normally took a Multivitamin anyway. If I could swallow my other medicine post op, there was no reason not to take normal Multivitamins.

I take these

The soft gels are very easy to digest.

My first appointment to doctor was in January. He told me the sleeve bypass is my best option. I will be 63 yrs old when I have this surgery. Right now I weight 216 pounds ; I am 5'2". Just trying to get all the information I can. What to expect. What kind of Vitamins is best. Just everything I need to do to prepare and have good health and good outcome thru surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
