I was up and walking within hours of getting to my hospital room. I was sent home the day after surgery, and was walking quite a bit form that day forward. My surgery was on Tuesday, and I was doing laundry that Sunday. I went back to work 8 days post op, and have been fine.

I was up walking about 4 hours after getting to my room. Hospital stay was 2 days. Stayed on the couch downstairs for a little less than a week because our bedroom is upstairs and didn't want to climb the stairs. Within a week I was cleaning the house and work related items seeing how I work from home.

very simular to all others. walking within a few hours of waking up. hospital for two days and back to work in 7. had a desk job. I will add that I was pretty tired for about 3 weeks and only went to work and did the min around the house after work. got in plenty of Protein drinks and Jello broths etc so no cooking was needed thank goodness. walked the hallway at work during lunch and in the morning break time so I could get in my exercise. sure did not feel like it after working 8 hours. was a little tender for a few weeks but no pain.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
