Getting first fill tomorrow - Questions

Recommended Posts

As stated I am getting my first fill tomorrow and I have some questions.

First when I had the surgery for almost 2 weeks it was amazing in that I was full all the time. I lost like 18 lbs and my appetite came back with a vengence and I gained almost all of it back.

Is this normal and what can I expect from the fill and does it hurt a ton.

Will:confused::car:

I had first fill on friday. Does not hurt at all - at least mine didn't. This weekend I have been on liquids/mushies and feel kind of burpy and like I have a lump in my throat. Nothing dramatic. I will eat solids tomorrow but I am sure hoping that I can't eat too much! Good luck.

It shouldn't hurt especially if they numb the area first. I have had 2 fills and haven't seen much restriction. Everyone is different of course, so you may have great results. For some people, they don't start losing consistently until after the first few fills and they get good restriction. For others (like me), I have lost pretty consisently without restriction--however, I am exercising 6 days a week for at least an hour sometimes 2 hours. I have cut out all of the junk food and I am only eating lean meats, fruits, veggies, and whole grains.

I hope you have good results and don't sweat the fill it doesn't hurt.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

      Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
