Hey guys!

My friend/co worker had her surgery about a month ago and I'm scared for her. I feel like she's doing everything wrong. Shes not eating (claim to be not hungry). When she does eat it's something unhealthy. She hasn't started on any Vitamins yet because she said she isn't ready to swallow. She removed the bandages from her incisions and they aren't healing as they should. I'm really concerned. We both started this journey together and she had her surgery before me. I've talked to her but she has her own idea as to what she should do. She's losing weight but I'm just not happy about how she's doing things.

What should I do?

Sadly I think you can only be supportive as much as you can but she is an adult and going to do whatever she wants to. Hopefully when you are handling yours she will pick up some better habits. Good luck.

That's really too bad she's doing that. I'm still pre op and I'm trying to load up on Protein powder and Vitamins I'll need for post op. I've heard that people who don't take the Vitamins and Protein that their bodies need have a hard time down the road. Support is all you can do, and to set an example when you are post op. I hope that she stays on the prescribed path so that nothing bad happens

Wow! I can't imagine having this surgery and not doing it right! I mean, I had an addiction just as much as the next obese person. What this surgery did for me is give me enough time to break my addiction to the foods that made me fat! It was a forced lifestyle change. If she doesn't make the changes then she will eventually gain all her weight she loses back. I am taking advantage of the small stomach and staying away from sugary, fattening foods that would make me sick or nauseous after surgery. O'h trust me, I tried to eat them and I could easily add them back into my diet because they really don't make me sick. That would be stupid. I was given a second chance to live the life I've always wanted. You sound like you have your head in the game. I agree, there is nothing you can do that you already haven't done accept show her how it's done like you said! :) Good Luck to the both of you! It is Life Changing!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
