I didn't weigh myself every week (I waited until my post op appointments) and just concentrated on the task at hand of eating right and getting my exercise in. Losing will come, everyone is different.

I so feel your pain. I stalled out from day 7 post op to day 21. It was SO hard because I was still recovering and miserable on the liquid diet and it felt like it was all for nothing. I was self pay and thinking this was a huge waste of 15K. I just stuck to my plan and it started moving again.

My dr explained to me that we lose weight in steps, our body holds on to it and then loses a bunch at once. Ive had several more stalls, it seems like every time I'm on the cusp of a new weight decade (190s, 180s, etc) I stall out. I've been bouncing between 194 and 191 for nearly 2 weeks now. It is SO frustrating and even though I know that it will pass I still feel like maybe I'll just never lose another pound and at the time it feels like forever.

Just keep at it, your food intake looks good! It will happen, I promise!

Search on here for 3 week stall. It happens to many. You have to also remember, that if you are following the diet Clear liquids week one, add Protein drinks, pudding, etc on week two. On week three you might be adding foods like cottage cheese, tuna, other items that may contain some sodium which you have not been having for almost two months (if you followed a pre-op diet for two weeks, and then the two weeks clear/and Soups, pudding, Jello, etc.

If you are this hard on yourself at this stage, you should really contact your nutritionist and therapist to deal with the emotional stage. You don't want to anger yourself down the line, and start feeding the emotions. Good luck, and seriously relax a bit. Read many of the people that stalled the first month.

I am the same way. Sleeved 12/22/16 and down a whole 12 pounds in almost a month. You see all these people just killing it and i am over here like wth. I have been going to the gym for the past 2 weeks so I know that's not it. I know how you feel so frustrating.

Stalls are very frustrating especially when they happen 10 days after surgery as is my case. However they will happen and as upsetting as the first 3 or 4 were I did get use to them. I listened to the vets on the board and stopped weighing myself every day and went to 1 once a week. Lately now that I am almost 1 year post op I am weighing once or twice a month. For all those going through a stall please read this wonderful message written by Inner surfer Girl who is a vet and has lost over 220.

I hear what you are saying and I'm very frustrated too. I had surgery on Nov 1st. I lost 27 lbs before surgery and I've lost 31 since; However, for the last month I've only lost 4 lbs. I'm afraid I won't lose any more!!! This has greatly affected my emotions. I've really had to reel myself in, so I don't turn to food. I KNOW I am doing everything RIGHT, so I'm trying really hard to just let the process work for me. I must have really unrealistic expectations. There's no turning back so the best I can offer is be patient with the process, exercise 4-5X a week, drink tons of Water, eat your Protein, log EVERYTHING you eat, measure/weigh your food and say a prayer. Best of luck to you and everyone else on this post struggling. I'm right here with you

I stalled at 3 weeks and then about once a month since then...in fact now I get nervous if I have days where I lose a little something everyday because I know that means a stall is imminent. So a little info about stalls and why they happen.

Well that is interesting! Thanks for posting that explanation regarding stalls. I am a science nerd, and I loved learning the science behind the mysterious stall!

Good morning everyone, I had my surgery on 1/16. In Wednesday prior going to the doctor I weighed 317 the day of my surgery I was 309 and as of this morning I'm 292. I'm confuse with the eating plan. Do some of you can guide on some of the things you have eaten so far.

Thanks, OP, for starting this thread. I'm 5 weeks post op and weigh weekly at the gym. Yesterday (my birthday!) I went there all excited to see how I was doing because I've been sticking to the program 100%. I'd watched friends eat my free birthday dessert at a restaurant the night before while I stuck to 3 oz. of grilled shrimp. They were excellent shrimp, BTW. Anyway, I was feeling good because I've been hitting my Protein and Water targets and exercising 40 minutes a day. I'd just gotten my hair cut and colored and was SURE I'd have lost a few pounds. But no, I'd gained 1.4 pounds! Intellectually I knew there are many reasons for this, but emotionally I felt dejected, frustrated, sad, and demotivated. It really soured my day. But I stayed at the gym even though I wanted to leave. I did my 40 minutes on the treadmill and even took an extra walk later in the day. Do I feel great today? No. But I'm going to stick with it with the help of all of you and trust that my body will work its way through all these changes the way it's meant to. Best of luck to all of you!

Thank you to everyone for your motivation and support.

Since the OP a week ago, I've shed 3 lbs, so I'm headed in the right direction. Of course I wish it were more!

I'm also on solid/regular foods now, which is strange.

Still walking, still hydrating, still proteining.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
