If dumping isn't throwing up what is it?

For me it is nausea, hot flashes, sweaty, dizziness, racing heart. Just wanting to curl up in a fetal position for an hour...awesome...Not!

Others throw up, others get explosive diarrhea

Can dumping happen hours later? I ate something with 17 grams of sugar by accident this morning and now 10 hours later feeling a bit woozy. Could also be something else... weather related, blood sugar, weird bypass wooziness. I don't know.

For me its really bad and lasts like 20 min if not longer. Waves of pain from the back of my throat down the middle of my back. And i feel like its going yo come up or maybe just wish. My mouth will Water and today foam has been coming up. The first time i ate one small bite of cake. This time i just had a few small bites of pureed ckn and really soft broccoli. Something ive eaten twice before with no problem. I think i took a drink of my Water too close to my food or had my bites too close together. But it really hurt bad for a while.

This situation turned out to not be dumping. I had a slight blockage that was not allowing foid to go down. I had to go in for an egd with a dilation.

It appears to me that dumping can occur when you eat to fast, too much and or when you eat the wrong thing.... def. sugar

What is an end with a dilation?

The egd is where they sedate you and put a camera down your throat to look around. The dilation is where they expanded a part of esophagus with a balloon. I had food getting stuck on the way down.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
