Easily gaining weight?

Recommended Posts

I'm very happy with my decision to get the sleeve done but i've been stuck around the same weight for the last 2 months. I dropped 50lbs almost instantly but just last week, I was 278, few days later I was 289. I can't say I eat extremely healthy but I can't say I eat extremely bad. And, of course, I can't consume much food. Why is it soo easy to gain weight, soo quickly? Is it just Water weight? I feel like the weight gain is defeating the purpose.

I wouldn't think 11#s is "Water weight" .. Do you log the food/calories you eat? Maybe it would help you to do so if you don't.. You might be surprised.. You can also look up how many calories it takes to sustain the weight you are then you'll know what you need to stay under to continue to lose

By "not eating healthy" do you mean not following your prescribed diet? Being the same weight for days or weeks is normal but gaining 11 pounds isn't.

How much Protein and carbs do you eat daily?

Drinking enough Water?

Exercising?

Avoiding "Slider" foods and alcohol?

You don't have to justify any of this to me but you do need to be honest with yourself.

The WLS is just a tool. To lose weight we really have to do ALL the work ourselves.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
