Good luck. There's nothing scary about having your stomach removed, once surgery is over you won't even know it's gone until you realize you can only eat smaller normal size portions. It will be the best thing you could do for yourself. You're probably stressed and anxious now, all of that will pass. You'll be just fine. Good luck to you and your success!!

Well I have a surgery date of 2/27/17 but I just had an irregular EKG where Im having an abnormal heart beat. I havent noticed it at all, but they say its there. So I have to see a cardiologist on Monday. I hope this is not another hurdle I have to jump on my journey to try and be healthy...

Greetings from Asbury! just read through this thread, your story sounds a lot like mine. I backed out on my original date too (from home, not in he operating room, lol) but am back on track and scheduled for this Tuesday. I'm sure you'll be fine at the cardio- I had a similar issue but the doc said it was fine and the surgery would be the best thing I can do for my heart.

Jogging every day 4 miles, drink Water, eat Protein and fresh veggies, take my Vitamins and knowing I will keep it off. Feeling healthy is the BEST part, and feeling in control. Got rid of all fat clothes because a healthy ME is my top priority now. Good Luck I pray all works out for you and you can start this amazing journey.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
