My Christmas Miracle Happened on Dec 7th When I Had DS Surgery

Recommended Posts

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I am new here. I thought I would share a little about my experience and see if anyone else had a similar situation. First let me say, I really was dragging my feet about having a Duodenal Switch as it seemed to so severe, but my doctor insisted it was the best procedure for me. The first week, I was hating life, but it gets a little better each day. I was told when I woke up from surgery that my appendix had been removed as well. I just figured that it was inflamed or something. I hadn't had any symptoms of appendicitis. . . .

As it turns out, I had a non-malignant tumor in my appendix. It was a type that can become malignant and spread without symptoms, until it is well established all over the body. My surgeon told me at my two week post-op appointment that if I had had the gastric bypass he would not have been looking down as far as my appendix and would not have noticed it. The entire tumor was removed!

Wow! Do I feel lucky! I thanked Dr. Roller several times, but once again: Thank you Dr. R!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
