To eat....or not to eat?!?

Recommended Posts

I am 2 weeks out from gastric bypass, and am wondering how others are planning their meals. I drink my Protein at Breakfast then start on my Water, but I'm not really sure when to eat. My body isn't telling me it's time....but I know I need to eat something! Ideas? Schedules? Routines? I'm open to all ideas as I have NO habits to break

Honestly like you i had no feeling of hunger for quite some time. In fact if I got off track, i would completely forget to eat and to drink.

So, i began starting an alarm and eating to a schedule. I would measure my food and try my best to eat what was being asked of me but most times i could not even get that down. So, I focused on Water because I knew it was the number 1 priority.

Can you tell me an example of your schedule?

Mine for example went like this::

8:30am 8oz Protein shake with banana

2:00pm 1/2 avocado w/pepper

6:00pm 1/2 a avocado, tablespoon of non fat cottage cheese, tablespoon of mashed potatoes

w/gravy

7:30pm sugar free popsicle

Every time food was eaten it was because I knew I needed to eat, not because I was hungry.

I drank 48oz of Water and 1-G2 throughout the day and struggled to get that done

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
