Wow, I just logged in to see about how much people lose on pre-op diet. I have surgery on 1/10 and of course, these past few weeks have been awful. The holidays are always bad and I thought this year I'd be a bit better. NO..hoping to lose 10-15 on pre diet. I see this and a bit worried.

Everyone is different my concern is maybe my weight is contributed to a medical disease that hasnt been diagnosed.

Stressing out doesn't help, I know it's easy to say but when people stress it affects the loss sometimes. Try and take a bath, listen to relaxing music, make sure to put some epsom salts (two cups)---helps if you have any Water retention....and helps your muscles relax. Seriously try and relax a bit.

Hi Ginsin007, you're on a pre-op diet already (surgery date 1/10)?

You'll be able to lose 10-15 by surgery.

Best of luck :)

No not yet. I should start it on 12/30 (I am supposed to start 10 days prior). I would like to actually try (aim for) 14 days prior which would start on 12/27 (next week Tuesday). I have been eating poorly and have gained 15 since summer. I need to get on track asap, but it's been so hard during the holidays. My fault for just not eating gifts from customers (Cookies, chocolate, etc). Ok, let's not blame customers when I had that egg nog shake...I take the blame. I think on pre-op I will hopefully get at least 15 off, I will be strict without a doubt. I don't want issues during surgery.

I would not worry too much about it. Just stick to the plan, even 5lbs can make a huge difference in the size of your liver which is why they put you on this plan in the first place.

The other thing I would say is homemade clear chicken broth is how I survived the liquid diet for 14 days. I tried the junk out of a can and it was horrible...tasted like dishwater. So when my bariatric nurse called to check on me, I told her I was struggling with all the sweet. She suggested I either cook up some homemade chicken broth and then strain it saving the chicken in the freezer for later or getting some mrs. Grass chicken noodle Soup and just not add the noodles or the golden egg.

That is what I did and both during pre op and post op, I sipped this like crazy.

In the end I lost 13lbs in 14 days but for me, I started at a heavy weight with little loss prior to pre op diet.

By the way....I gained it all back from Fluid IVs in the hospital (LOL), so dont be surprised when that happens too.

Hang in there and keep your eye on the prize. None of the christmas food is worth losing your surgery date.

Best of luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
