I am 11 days post op- I burp too-I think it is when my pouch is telling me to stop eating which is usually after 4 oz of liquid. It is normal-so don't worry:)

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.. I had somehow gotten it in my head that burping was really, really bad for the band, and was really freaking out with the amount of burping I've been doing since the surgery.

I seem to have the OPPOSITE problem. I can't burb anymore. i have these weak attempts to burp but it just sounds like I am breathing hard.

I fear the only way I was able to burp was from soda. Now that I can't drink soda...will I never burp again!!?

I too seem to be burping alot, but its not a normal burp. It feels like it should when its still in my belly but it can't seem to actually get through the band.?. I'm not sure how else to describe it. Its like it gets stuck in the stoma and can't actually make it out, its pretty uncomfortable but a few deep breaths seems to clear it out and all is better. I've only had a handful of acutal burps, and frankly they were heavenly. :) I'm hoping its just because everything is still a little swollen.

lexysmommy - I feel the exact same way....luckily...I'm able to burp more everyday...because for me, it kind of hurts when the air doesn't make it all the way up!

I burp all the time. It feels good. I burp every time I drink Water.

When I need to burp and I can't, it's quite annoying. I heard once that burping is a good sign of restriction.

I'm two days post-op and am burping like crazy...has anyone else experienced this?

Hey Kimmee -

I think in the beginning alot of the burping is to release all the gas that was in your abdomen while doing the surgery laporoscopically. The surgeon tries to take most out - but I know in my case, my belly looked pregnant after surgery because of alot of trapped gas!

I actually think of it as a blessing - better "up" than "down"... and better to burp it out than stay gassy

I didn't burp a lot at first. I Hiccupped. Now, when I eat or drink and I burp it is the most un-lady-like sound I have ever heard. It sounds like I just chugged and entire pitcher of Beer. I could enter a contest. Its gross.....

I found this thread after I searched for "burping." Pheww... I am feeling a little better about my situation. I am almost 4 months out and have had great restriction for the last month. Anyways, I am burping like a crazy fool! It never hurts, actually feels better, but I burp so much. I was afraid that it was doing damage to my band, but from what I have read, it doesn't seem that way.

Has anyone else had hiccups a lot too? Somedays I will get them like 3 or 4 times a day and they hurt! I try to hold my breath to get rid of them, but sometimes I just have to wait them out!

So, the consensis (sp?) is that burping is not bad, right? I know its common after the surgery, but I am 4 months out, so its still "normal" to burp this much now too?

Thanks for the help!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
