I had the bypass on 11/14/16. The only problem I have is Constipation but stool softener and Miralax take care of it without problems. Stuck to your drs plan and you will be fine.

I revised from a lap band to bypass. Love my bypass!! No nausea unless I am "dumping". Only thing that has caused it is eating too fast.

It happens twice before I figured out what it was, been fine sine..no repeats.

I had a stricture (two, actually) early out - they caused vomiting. but it's a very easy fix and I felt 100% better afterward (and no more vomiting!)

Today is marks 1 week PO for me. I've had to wear the nausea patch behind my ear and take pills.. some days I have no issue and today is ugh bad. But so worth it. Its the hot farts and diarrhea thats the worst but you get that with either surgery

Had my bypass 3/14/16. Nausea went away 1 week or so after surgery. I've never vomited. Constipation is/was a big issue but keeping hydrated and adding Fiber have helped tremendously. Overall, don't feel much different than before surgery, there's just a lot less of me.

The first week or so it is sometimes difficult to get all of your fluids in, when that happens you will be nauseous and a little weak. If you keep sipping it will get better.

The only issue i deal with is Constipation and my doctor gave me a prescription for linzess. It works fantastic.

I concur. I had almost no pain and the only nausea I have felt is after eating crunchy raw veggies (...repeatedly--never said I was bright, but I am persistent). I had one really bad bout of Constipation, but I got through it and now I monitor it constantly to make sure I keep it under control.

I am very, very happy I choose RNY.

I'm waiting to discuss gastric bypass with my internist at Kaiser SW Washington on 12/20. I'm also interested to know how people did that had severe GERD before surgery and how it was treated, if necessary after surgery. I take long acting Protonix twice a day now and know I won't be able to take long acting meds after surgery. Any suggestions would be great.

I had GERD pre-surgery. The first few months I had to take Prilosec every day (most patients do - not just those with GERD. They want to keep your acid level down so you'll fully heal, evidently). Once I came off Prilosec, I've had reflux maybe five times, and it pretty mild. I used to have it every day. So yes - it's very effective. Many patients never have GERD again at all after bypass.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
