5 months post mgb with dr camelo ramos

Recommended Posts

I thought I would just share my story to pay it forward to somebody else thinking of getting this surgery done. My highest weight. In my life was 230 pounds. After the pre-op diet I got down to 220. I am 5'2" tall. So here I am at five months out and the happiest I've ever been. I went from wearing clothes that was 2 xl to wearing clothes that are size medium. I few days ago when I weighed myself I was 142 pounds. So I am currently down 88 pounds overall!! The bottom line is that I would do this surgery again in a heartbeat even if it cost twice as much. We have one life to live, and we should live the healthiest life possible. The only downside that I have found and is not a big deal is I have become lactose intolerant. I now drink Almond milk, I can still have cheese yogurt and ice cream. I just can't have regular milk. If anyone has any questions at all don't hesitate to message me, I'm an open book.

Congrats Girl! Looking good and Happy! It is so good reading comments from post sleevers because as a pretty sleever, I question this path, journey, decision every single day. I'm in awe of the progress and movement I see all around me but somehow wonder if it is possible for me too. I am also 5'2" tall but weighing in at 300+, I absolutely know what I need to do.

Me too, I started at 330 lb and I am 5'4. I was sleeved on 11/28, and I am already down under 300 lbs. Congratulations on your loss, it's not just the sleeve, you are working your butt off, literally...it isn't like we don't have to try!

Inspiration!..Thank you...Everyday during this process I question myself...Is this surgery for me? What if? I just woke up one day this year and said, I'm tired of being fat and this is how my bariatric process started.

You look great! I know you feel great. Your arms & waist are small. Shopping is a fashion show I bet...Enjoy your new life...Do things you've never done before..LIVE!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
