Have my scope tomorrow and I don't really know what to expect. Anybody want to explain? Surgery date is one week away! Can't wait.

I had to have an edg also. Its no biggee. You sleep through it. No issue afterward. I have had several over the last 10 years.

Yes you sleep through the scope

The last thing I remember before going out was the lady ABOUT to put the thing in my mouth to keep it open during the procedure and then they were waking me up.

I experienced no pain

If you don't sedate easily, let them know. I was awake, but loopy. Even then, it wasn't that bad. The drugs they give you are wonderful.

It was simple - mine was today!

I was scheduled for 9am but had to wait until 10am because I couldn't pee. They made me stop eating and drinking at 6pm the day before and I peed before I left the house. Since I'm a young woman, and was going under anesthesia, they had to take a pregnancy test (even though I had my period - apparently it's an anesthesia rule). So don't pee beforehand!

Otherwise, it's really easy. It's a nice nap. :) Oh! And make sure you have someone to drive you home!

Mine was super easy too. I remember looking at the clock when they gave me the "sleepy" meds, it was 12:02, when I woke up it was 12:18. I was out of the hospital by 12:30.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
