Moving Advice post-sleeve please

Recommended Posts

Hello! My sleeve surgery is scheduled 1/11/17. I am scheduling when to close on my existing home and move into our new home. I'm a single Mom of a 12 year old which leaves more of the responsibility to me. I'll hire movers and will have the help of friends and family, but will still need to unpack. Realistically when will I feel up to this? I'd like to move mid March, 9 weeks after surgery. Thoughts?

I don't see a problem with it at 9 weeks.....of course everyone is different but for me after 2 to 3 weeks I felt fine.....I think most doctors say to give yourself 6 to 8 weeks to completely heal.

I'm 6 weeks post op from a duodenal switch, and I've got half my house packed up and in the garage. I'll be moving when I'm about 9 or 10 weeks post op. The thing is, I gotta do what I gotta do, and right now, that means packing and moving to another state. So far, I've only had minor issues with lifting heavy boxes and feeling the pull in my belly. Otherwise, a okay.

If you are healing normally, you should be able to do that. You should ask your surgeon what their advice is. You can be easily tired out so pacing yourself and not over doing it is key. Good luck and Congrats on your new home.

Aside from the lifting restrictions, I could have easily unpacked and set up a house at a couple weeks out.. You'll be more than fine by then to do that.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
