TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!

<p>Here are the names and surgery dates we have so far in our ever-growing TENaciousTENS group. If I missed a data point by your user name, then it's a name or date I couldn't find. Some names I assumed by your user name, so correct me if I got it wrong! Send me any corrections or updates and I'll correct it for the next;Roll Call. Yahoo's edit function sucks and made me re-do this about 5 times - also Twyla it wouldn't take the and sign in your screen name, it keeps making spaces where there should be no spaces, etc. For those of you with OCD, sorry the lines drift a little, hahaha. Hi,

need some feedback on this - I have had my first fill (last week 1.5cc) and my doctor said it would have a short term effect therefore I'm going back next week to have another fill. My concern is that I really don't feel any restriction at all. I'm beginning to wonder if it was all such a good idea ($5k out of pocket expenditure) when I'm going to have to diet still anyway - feeling very despondent about this. I was banded 6th October 2007 - I lost 10kg in the first week or so then nothing since then.

Anyone else experiencing this?

cheers!

Hi Jude and everyone- I haven't been very good about getting online lately. But today I decided to check things out. Hope everyone is doing well.

Jude- I haven't had a fill yet (my first one will be Dec 4th) But I went two weeks without any weight loss. I was very frustrated. I figure my body needed to adjust to the weight I'd lost to date. This didn't keep me from doubting weather the band would work though. I think most of us are so used to failure that we harbor doubt. And then the minute we/I don't see or get the results I/we expect we are left questioning if getting the band was the right choice.

I still have fears this won't work or that I made a mistake. I try to remind myself that a plateau is (definition varies by doctor or person) when you haven't lost weight in 3-4 weeks. And I also try to remember that it takes a few fills for the average person to hit their sweet spot. It's important to keep working with the band being sure to follow the band rules and guidelines. And if we mess up then we need to not give up. We need to start over and run the program. Work with the tool we've been given.

This is the pep talk I've been giving myself. Most days it keeps me on track.

Good luck all! Take care. ~Tina

Hello Everyone, I've been reading about those whom are experiencing a (for want of a better word) bump in their downward, weight loss, slope. I am/was glad to know, as usual, I'm not the only one. My bump weighed 6.4lbs. two weeks ago and through no great effort on my part is now four pounds lighter. I was, of course, a little 'freaked-out' about this but, when in doubt I read Lapbandtalk.com to see what my fellow shipmates are doing and chill-out. A kilo a week is about my norm so I believe I'm headed back down my gentle slope.

I'm getting alot of daily "How much have you lost?" at work and it's getting a little tiresome... they're not necessarily supportive when I tell them; just curious. Despite me explaning (several times) don't expect me to shrink away overnight they ask, time and time again. Any ideas on a polite way of saying 'enough'. I been thinking of graphing out and posting my weight loss on the breakroom bulletin board cuz at a deeper level they/and my brain make me feel like, what's not being said is, "You've spent alot of money and, well, It's not much of a loss (now is it?)." At the same time I know it's only been two months, my weight loss is at a healthy rate, and IT WAS MY DAMN MONEY TO SPEND. ER-R-R-r-r-r Sorry about that.

The thing about this is my Fluoro next Saturday (8th) and am tempted to get a fill, based on their expectations. Crazy, yeah, I know, but I'm asking for some help refocusing a little bit.

For those of you out there in E-land who never write... please write your thoughts... the way you think about an issue might be the helpful answer someone else needs. Dylan

Good evening everyone. How are you all doing? I am doing great.

I haven't lost anymore weight in a few weeks, I got my band 10-10-2007 had my first fill on 11-15-2007 my second to be 12-31-2007.

I am still at the point of being thrilled to have NOT gained back a pound that I lost between 9-26-2007 and now. I would like to have lost more weight but it will come.

My cuts are still tender to push on. Is this normal?

Hi Arkie,

I had my band on October 22 and had my first fill 3 days ago. So that's about 6 weeks and I was told I was still a bit swollen. I know if I bed over and "squish" that area its still really tender, so I wouldn't worry unduly.

I am where you are...and completely understand. I see people at work looking and me and wondering, though no one has come out and said anything. I haven't lost ANYTHING post-op and have probably put on most of the 9 measly pounds I lost. I get my second fill tomorrow and am thinkin this will really help.

I am glad that you are able to come here and find some solice. It takes only one post to hit the spot sometimes and we have to be here for each other.

Keep on keepin' on and hopefully the slide gets a little steeper (and slippery-er) in the coming weeks. :(

Valerie

Hi Arkie,

It looks like you and I are on the same schedule...I was banded 10/18, first fill was 11/1 and 2nd fill is scheduled for 12/20. I too was hoping to have lost more weight by now, but it is what it is.

Kloverdad:

I have had the 'can you eat all that'? and 'chew slowly' and 'wow, that's a lot of food!' comments here at work. It's frustrating and annoying. And as for the bump, I'm in the middle of my bump now. I'm trying to stay positive, drink a lot of Water and find I'm going to bed earlier to fight thinking about/wanting food.

I really hope at some point this won't be such a battle and it will get a little easier. Until then, it's nice to get the support here from others going through the same thing.

-Becky

I did not want people to ask me or pry into my personal life, so I just told everyone at work & even family that I had my gall bladder removed. It is none of anyone business what you had done or why... I am losing & people are noticing & it was on my terms... They see me eating the better choices & passing on all of the Cookies, donuts Bagels etc... They are saying wow, what will power you have... and ya know what it is will power because I have not eaten 1 piece of junk. I have wanted to & it would fit... but I am on a mission to lose weight & to get healthy, I ate all of that crap & know how it tastes... Let them have the pounds... I only told my husband, daughter & 2 of my bst friends that I had it done. That is it. I am so glad I did for I do not want anyone to judge me or say "You took the easy way out"...

You are so right! I feel the same way. I still have to make choices everyday and I am making much better ones. It is not the easy way out, it is still a conscious decision for a healthier lifestyle. Amen, Amen, Amen.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
