Hi folks I'm new to the app etc. Can I ask if there are many UK members?

I have me date set for 11th Jan. I can't wait to start my journey but I'm obviously nervous.

I'm 36 and weigh 212lbs or 15st 2lbs

I have opted for the sleeve. Most of my family are in total support. Just one or two she aren't but I knew they wouldn't.

I'm from Scotland and was sleeved, self pay, at Glasgow Nuffield on 23 Aug 16. I'm aged 60 and a slow loser but am going in the right direction, despite a few bumps along the road!

Happy to share my experience.

@@kimiko80 - Are you using the public health service, or self pay? Not trying to discourage you if you are using the government system, well there were some people with some problems using it who have posted here. It can pay to shop around for alternatives. That said, I'm in the US, always glad to meet someone who I feel separated from by our common language. ;-)

I'm self pay which is very expensive! However my local health authority only consider you for surgery if Type 2 diabetes or sleep Apnea. Very happy with surgeon and hospital/aftercare.

There is a support group for folks from the UK. At the main page of the gastric sleeve forum, go to the support groups. From there go to social groups. It's on the bottom. From there you will see different groups. One is UK.

GOOD Luck!

I saw my doctor in april 2015 who referred me. Had first meeting at uclh in june to discuss different surgeries available. Then had appointment for blood tests etc and then a further appointment with psycologist. Then received good news saying approved. Finally had pre op assessment dec 7th. Got my date for surgery today 3rd feb 2016. Am so ready and quite excited now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
