Anyone Regret the band??

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all the input, I truly appreciate hearing from all of you. One more question...those of you who have been banded for awhile, can you eat a "normal" small portion of food?

I have felt out of place and conspicuous because of being fat....will I be out of place and conspicuous because it never looks like I eat anything?

Do you ever get to a point when you can just feel NORMAL??

After time you will eat enough food that people won't look at you funny, no worries. ;)

Hi, I've only been banded since 8/30. I just advanced to pureed food. I have been out to eat twice since banding and had Soup both times (was on liquids). The waitress was pleasant and did not treat me any differently than anyone else at the table. I've told people I want to tell about being banded. And then life goes on. Yes there are changes, and no, I do not feel different eating different portions.

In the weeks before my surgery, I too vacillated back and forth. While I haven't "learned" all the lessons yet, I do agree, the band is always with you as a reminder. I've found things that I used to do as habit, I now think twice. Want to grab a candy bar out of that basket on my secretary's desk? Do I really want it? Can I really tolerate it? And I pass. Stress eating? Nope, have to find another outlet. I'm enjoying Minute Maid Lemonate light with sugar free raspberry Syrup lately.

Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY! Even if I only lose 50% of my excess weight. I ALREADY feel better, am off 3 meds, walk easier, sleep better, and have more energy.

Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
