Pain near largest incision getting worse?

Recommended Posts

My largest incision just right and slightly higher than my belly button is almost healed at skin level. But underneath the tissue is so painful and seems to be getting worse. When I get in and out of cars or even just sitting I get stabbing pains inside right next to my belly button. I cry out in pain. Is this sound like a healing pain process or did I tear something or a bad stich? I have my follow up appt Tuesday but I'm in so much pain, I'll be 2 weeks out Tuesday. Tylenol is not helping much anymore. Anyone experience pulling pain that got worse at 2 week mark?

Normal. That's the hole they pulled your stomach out of. Try putting some compression on it, I used a compress tank top but high waisted Spanx or even tightly wrapping you abdomen with a large towel. It really helped me.

I don't know why that posted before I was finished. I originally mis read and thought you were two days post op and intended to delete. i

Check the painful area for swelling, discharge or heat. Take you temperature. Call the surgeon right away if you have a fever, swelling or discharge. Try an ice pack. You can call the surgeon 24/7 someone will be on call to evaluate you.

You need to see the dr. My experience is very similar but my lower stomach started "bruising" a week after surgery and the pain was getting worse. I had a low grade temp. I went to dr. and found out I had a staph infection. Ues this was the whole they pulled my stomach out of. My belly was full of infection, tho my incision site, at first, didn't show signs of infection.

I wouldn't wait any longer. This could be serious. I was on abt therapy for three weeks longer. A stronger dose, and boy once the infection started healing, I felt likea totally different person! Keep in touch, let us know jow your doing.

I would call the on-call doctor at your practice today. A few weeks ago, I developed an infection in the incision inside of my belly button. A week of antibiotics cleared it right up, but if I had not called, it would have just gotten worse.

Good luck and feel better.

When I was in the hospital the doctor told me that the incisions right by my belly button had some deep stitches in the muscles and that would be the area that will be painful the longest due to that. I had my surgery Nov 30 and she was right. As of now those 2 spots are the only thing that still hurts when sitting down, standing up. Bending etc. I tried wearing my shaping tank top last night for some extra support and that really helped!

I went to my surgeon today. He said its normal and nothing else I can do. He said I can go to the er if I think there's something else going on. I was a bit annoyed, and did not want to go to the er. I asked him to call in an order for a ft scan so I would have to pay for a er visit. He said he would but that takes a few days. I said I'd wait so loading up on Tylenol for now. I wasn't expecting this much pain, and I've had two childbirths. This is way worse.

Be very careful about redness, heat, swelling, or increased pain, or signs of infection. If you notice anything like that, run don't walk to your doctor or ER. But if it's just increased soreness , it could be related to being more active or decreasing pain meds. But definitely worth calling your surgeon's office to make sure and don't take any chances.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
