Question about grapes

Recommended Posts

I have read that alot of people have trouble with the skin on fruit and remove it. My question is how do you remove the skin on grapes? Grapes are my favorite and I have read that people remove the skins on them.

I'm newly banded and worried about this too. Concord grapes are one of my favorite foods in the entire world. But skinless? Ugh. I shudder to think of it.

Grapes give some people problems but not everyone. I can eat them with no problem. If you have to peel them just use a sharp knife and start at the stem area and begin removing the skin.

I found that if I eat a few about 5 or 6 of them I do ok, If I try more then that the skins will come back on me, so I eat a few then maybe an hr or so later I will try a few more.

I don't have any trouble and grapes are a staple in my diet. Try and see, everyone is different.

Everybody is a different case and our bands react differently from one person to the other. I eat grapes and never had any problem whatsoever. Same goes for lettuce or any other kind of veggies or fruit, bread or Pasta. It all goes down without problem (I just have to be cautious not to eat too much and to chew well...)

I have had no problem eating grapes or any other fruit that we normally eat with skin on. I have skinned grapes in the past and it is pretty easy. Wasabubblebutt explains well how to so it. BTW I was banded 21.06.07, have lost 48lbs with the pre and post op diet and have not had a fill yet

I've only been banded for a few days so I don't have the luxury of eating grapes yet.

However, I always have preferred my grapes peeled. I usually start at the top (where the grape is disconnected from the stem) and peel back like flowers on a petal. Yum yum!!!

I don't have a whole lot of restriction, but I can eat grapes with the skin on.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
