So I am four days postop. I feel great. I'm walking around I'm basically doing everything on my own around my house taking care of my kids. But I am really struggling to be able to get all my fluids and all my Protein and I don't feel dehydrated or anything like that I just can't seem to get it all in. The Water alone fills me up and makes me feel full. I love the feeling not being hungry though. Of course I haven't lost weight yet bc I'm swollen still instead I gained weight from all the fluids and being swollen which is to be expected Had my first bowel movement yesterday it was so wonderful. (Sad I know lol) I know my NUT said to just try my best to get in what I can!!! But like I said I feel great have slept in my bed since the day I came home. Was discharged the next day after surgery bc I did so well. Trying my best to get in what I can I don't wanna end up having to go to the hydration clinic. Anybody else experiencing the same issue post rny?

My dietician acknowledged that it was almost impossible to get all the Protein in the first while post surgery. After surgery I wasn't getting 32 ish oz of fluids in plus my shake. I'm at 7 weeks now and just hitting 64 plus shake. I've been close for a while though.

I found warm liquids went down better in the beginning. Good luck

I still struggle with the 64oz of liquid a day, but am at about 60 consistently. The Premier Protein shakes have 30 gm Protein and 11oz liquid, so I try to have one for Breakfast every day.

I drink the Protein shake every morning and that gives me 30grams of the 60 I'm told to eat. I then eat lean meat, fish or legumes for lunch. If I have Snacks, I try and make them protein rich, like string cheese or these chips I found called beanitos. Lol, sounds like a gas medicine, I know, but they are really good and come in lots of flavors. They're made from Beans and have a decent amount of protein in them. (Can't remember exactly off the top of my head).

It's though some times, but I try and follow the protein first rule. Some days I eat just protein for a meal, like tonight I had roasted chicken, about 6 oz. that was it, because it is so filling. I later had a grapefruit after the chikky settled.

I am also lucky to work in a health care setting where all our meals in the cafeteria are bar coded for my fitness pal, so I am able to choose the most protein laden meal.

What are you doing to get all that Fluid in?

I wake up and drink Water I find it if you workout you'll reach your 64oz I have a 32oz water bottle and I drink 2 of those so if I start drinkin my Water at 8a.m I'll finish that bottle around 12pm the reason being is because you can't eat and drink at the same time then the second bottle I drink my fav drink which is crystal light but I make popsicles so there you have it I drink my first 32oz and I eat my second 32oz (popsicles lol) but I get more than 64oz because I drink a lot of water

Try to have Crystal Light .Sometimes you're just tired of water.I'm 2 weeks post op and have no problems getting my protein.I use Premier Protein form Sam's or Walmart.Has 30 grams per shake.I get my liquids in by having Crystal Light or sugar free Kool-Aid.Just need to wake up those taste buds.

Try premier Protein shakes, they have 30 g Protein so you don't have to drink a lot.11oz..When I struggle with drinking I use crystal light to give me a new flavor.Makes it easier for me.Can drink broth and now 18 days out I can have Soups that have been pureed.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
