Both of my denied letter stated that I didn't have enough evidence of weight loss history. I had 6 months of food logs, dietician notes, etc. We also submitted notes from my PCP for the last 4 years. My surgeons office called them after the 2nd letter and I was approved within 24 hours after that. I had given up and looking at Mexico. Yikes

@@wyominggirl How did it go? How are you feeling?

My surgery was postponed until the 22nd. Today is post op 1 week and I feel great. I did have a hiatal hernia repaired. I am struggling to get the required amount of Fluid in but everyday gets better. I am on stage one until the 4th and can't wait to be able to taste something else. How about you?

Well good for you. Yes, the first couple weeks are trying... Hang in there & trust me when I say FIGHT THE URGES. You'll want to cheat, just sneak something here & there, but it's not worth it.

I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. I had horrible acid reflux with bad night time cough. 4 drs & only my surgeon thought about a possible hernia Causing it all.

Sleeved 11/18. Highest weight 291. Current weight 248! Hang In there & reach out when you're feeling tempted or weak.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
