today marks 4 week post op - already feel the difference

Recommended Posts

It is amazing how much this surgery can change your life. It has been just four short weeks since my surgery today and my resting heart rate has dropped from mid sixties to high 40 beats per minute. I have lost 19 pounds and dropped a size and a half in clothes. There is a considerable difference in my face, complexion and i feel so good! i have just moved on to soft foods and while there are still some foods that don't go down that well, nothing has made me sick or nauseous, and I am so very glad I had this done. I am no longer considered "morbidly" obese and am fully confident that after a year I will be close to an actual normal BMI. I am so glad I that i did this and know it was the right decision for me.

So great to hear the success stories! I have gotten that the first few days are rough, but "keeping your eyes on the prize" has helped. This forum is great because it addresses some of the questions, concerns, fears, and victories (better) that we are all facing soon

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
