What can't you eat

Recommended Posts

I am about to go for my 1st consult to get banded and I am wondering if there is anything you cannot eat. Whether the DR. told you, or if it just makes you sick. I am curious how it will be.

Depending on how your doctor has his practice set up, but they should either have a nutritionist working with you, or at least some type of printed info that gives you an idea on what you should or should not eat.

I had my band done on 5/4, so I've been doing some minor experimenting on foods for the last month. Sometimes it just depends on the band that day, something I could eat fairly well last week, I just can't this week. If you'll read through some of the other 'food' threads, you see others trials and tribulations with many types of foods... some good and some not so good.

The lapband seems to be a walking adventure at times... but I'm glad I did it. I'm down almost 50 lbs and feel so much better already.

Good luck!

What can't I eat? People. Lambs tongue (yick) Cars & Buildings (although I am yet to try, I am just assuming I can't) Lots of things.

What I can do, is eat most things that are healthy, in moderation. I prefer to concentrate on what I *can* eat rather than dwell on what I can't. Makes for a happier person.

That said, what people can and cannot eat always differs.

Best of luck.

I cant eat brownies. I guess that is a good thing. But when I did try and eat them I think they clogged my stomach or something. Because I had a stomach ache for about an hour. Other then that everything gors down to easy. I need a fill.

I -- this has constantly changed throughout the past 5 months.

Nothing to dry - and right now - only 1/4 cup and nothing fiberous - spinach - broccolli - lettice - squash.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
