Did the drive home bother anyone? Bumps or nausea from too long of a trip?

I am planning on getting mine done 1 1/2 hours from home and would prefer to rest in my own home after surgery but would this be too long of a ride right after the hospital?

Bring a pillow to tuck between yourself and the seat belt and ask whoever is driving to take it easy on curves and bumpy Patches and you'll be fine.

I was about an hour and a half away from home and the ride back from the hospital did not bother me. One thing I had to do on the way home was stop at the pharmacy in order to purchase the prescription drugs I needed after the operation. This took about an hour of standing in line. So you might be prepared for this.

I live 4 hours away but the trip was harder on my son who was driving!! There is quite a bit of flatulence and it is ripe!! Every time we hit a bump, out it came!! Needless to say he tried to avoid bumps!! lol

as per @@James Marusek 's horror story about the pharmacy wait -- see if you can get your prescriptions written and filled before the surgery, not after.

My doctor instructed us to stop every 30 minutes and to get out and stretch and walk for a few minutes.

Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

One thing I liked about my Dr is he gave me a script to fill before my RNY, so it was all done. The ride home, which I also lived 2 hours away. Wasn't to bad as I had to stay in a Motel until my 1st week checkup. So going home wasn't bad at all. I was tired so I slept most of the trip. I wasn't allowed to drive myself until I was off all pain meds either.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
