My surgery date is Dec. 8. How do you change the feelings of panic and anxiety to excitement??!!!

I was nervous about the actual surgery. However, it went so fast! Literally a blink of the eye, like an hour nap. :)

The anxiety regarding life after sleeve is real as well. But within a few weeks or a couple months you realize that life is still normal, you just eat differently. Your relationship with food is altered for the better. It takes mental work too, but you adjust.

As you are prepping those last couple days before your surgery, keep visualizing and remembering all of the things you will be able to do after weight loss. How you will look and feel. It will keep you motivated!

My heart doctor said I was ok,

I know exactly what you're talking about! My surgery is Wednesday and with everything I have been through, cancer twice, chemo and 6 surgerys...this liquid diet may be the worst! I'm afraid of life after surgery, and will I ever be "normal" again or will social events and outings be too big of a hassle? I've wanted this for a long time, as I have been over weight my whole life, it's just the mental aspect of everything right now is affecting me a lot more than I thought it would!

@@Goals, that is exactly how I feel, I am just going to take it one day at a time and like my brother told me once all the weight starts coming off I will be excited and know I did the right decision, I just want to hurry up and get the surgery done and get to the healing part and getting used to my new life and new relationship with food!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
