I was sleeved Sept 19 2016 and all I lost was 19 pounds. This was a revision from having that horrible lap-band. Is it true it will take longer for people who have revisions of a lap-band to a sleeve to lose less weight?

I don't know about the conversion but for sure if you have less to lose you will lose more slowly. That is true with any diet.

I had revision also. I went from treacherous band to wonderful RNY. I have gone from 255 to 179. My surgery was 3/7. Initially (first 2 or 3 weeks was rapid) then my first stall...then slllooowwwllllyyy from there. For instance 2 weeks ago I was 283. I pretty much can eat anything. I rarely, rarely have mild dumping syndrome. I just eat a lot less. My practitioners are pleased, and feel as though I am eating in a way that can be maintained for life. My HW was 265. My first goal was 285- DONE!! Next goal 265- on my way!! After that we will see. I dream of 150 being the sweet spot!! But I already am so much happier, and feel amazing!! It is slower with revision, our bodies are already used to this , up and down, near starvation state, so it takes longer!! As long as we keep losing, that is what is important!!

I don't know about not losing as much but most doctors will warn their revision patients that they will lose more slowly. We don't get the rapid "honeymoon" period drop that many others do first time. I figure it is because our bodies have been there done that and have it figured out. I knew that going into this so I have been religious about following low carb eating and measuring everything and logging every piece of food that goes in and trying my best to get to 10,000 steps so that I can do the best I can to outfox my body.

My goal is still the same as my lowest maintenance weight when the band was working.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
