Is there anyone else who got pregnant before 5 weeks post op?

Recommended Posts

Almost 4 weeks post op and 5 weeks pregnant. Ok I posted last week. My surgeon had me to take a blood test to confirm and it showed positive at 5 weeks gestation. I'm scared but I saw a OB dr today and they told me my pregnancy will be ok but miserable.

I am shocked they did not do a pregnancy test before they did surgery. Honestly that is malpractice! Most women have a pee pregnancy test right before going into the OR, some have a blood pregnancy test. You had anesthesia, pain meds, etc.

I had my surgery on Halloween, I am hardly getting any calories in. I was starving every time I was pregnant (that's when I gained all my weight) I can't imagine feeling that way and hardly being able to get anything down.

I hope and pray it all goes well for you, you need to work closely with a nutritionist.

They did test and it was negative. We had intercourse the day before I had surgery. They say 5 weeks because of that 2-3 weeks difference from when you have your last period so technically the baby development started last week. The OB explained everything to me how pregnancy is calculated. I'm on soft foods and it's hard for me to eat it as it keeps coming up.

You just need to be careful with Protein and Calcium. The zygote would not have been implanted yet the next day, you you weren't technically pregnant. You'll probably be healthier with your new diet! CONGRATULATIONS! Is this your first?!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
