Hi: We all want to loose weight quickly, but relax. The band is your tool make it work for you. Focus on one bad habit at at time, focus on the prescribed diet and exercise and you will be surprised how the weight will come . Slowly (1-2 lbs per week). Don't be impatient because you may become depressed and go into a slump of binging/grazing. It took you a lifetime to put the weight on and it will take more than a few weeks to take it off. Doddie

Don't expect to much of your first fill. It's better to take it slow rather that be overfilled. I've had three fills and one defill so far. I'm not sure I hit my "sweet spot" yet. I can still eat a little more than I should and pretty much anything, but I am loosing weight and that's what's important. If I find I plateau then I will go in for sure.

Sorry about the fill. My fill is tipped on its side. Yours may be too. It is very difficult to do a fill with a tipped port. It took my doc over 30 minutes of trying but no pain as the port is just under the skin. Doddie

Well went to the hospital today for a xray it was cool got to see my band, and the port everything looks good but she need to call Dr. C. It's not where she though it was and she told me its going to be difficult to do a fill but there is not that many people in whitehorse with a band yet.

Hopefully Dr. Cobourn will be able to talk her through it. Maybe it should be arranged to have the fill done under fluoro - a type of moving X-ray.

I am so sorry your first experience is not going well. Flipping ports does happen but if must be a real bummer.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that your GP gets some good advise and is successful the next try.

My fill #1 was restricted for the first few days and then I could eat anything agian.

But my second fill was very tight, just starting to loosen off a bit now, 1 week later! The good news is that I'be only been able to eat about 800 cals per day each day this week and I am consistantly dropping weight. I am so happy.

You will be happy too... just try and hang in - we're all rooting for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
