Strange, it's taking me such a long time to do my appointments because they are apparently booked up. I have my first nutrition appointment December 15th and i cant even schedule a psych appointment til after nutrition appointment, according to my surgeons plan. Also I have a sleep study scheduled for December 22. I started this whole process beginning of October. Ive seen pulmonologist , had barium swallow study, labs already. November 18th I have endoscopy done. Im soooo nervous that after all of these appointments (which are all over 45 minute drive) that my surgery will be denied by my insurance. I'm praying it gets approved and also that I won't have to do six whole months of nutrition appointments. If thats the case, it would be AT LEAST May before i would have the surgery. Ugh. I want this like YESTERDAY!!!!

Girl, I hear you! I drive an hour for my appointments. I'm a revision patient (had lapband in 2009) so my process was much faster but it almost wasn't. My insurance didn't require I redo the 6 months and all that (psych eval, nutrition, etc). My surgeon did want me to redo the nutrition class and go to a support group meeting, and I was fine to do that. I actually enjoyed them, and I have been to the next support group meeting too. The kicker was that the lady that does insurance in his office would not believe that my insurance didn't require me to redo everything. She basically called me a liar and had me call insurance and have them call her on 3way. Then she told the representative who was reading her emails from the bariatric nurse reviewer to the lady that she didn't believe her and would call the nurse reviewer herself. The nurse reviewer read her my criteria (either surgical or medical complications, that's it) and she TOLD the reviewer that I had no surgical complications. Wth??? I never claimed to have surgical complications, thank goodness. My complications are medical (endocrine related) and she hadn't seen the letter from my endocrinologist. Well, the end of the story is it was approved in full and she had to eat crow.

Moral of my story: call and ask what your insurance requires and push for yourself. Be your own advocate! It definitely worked for me.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
