Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

What was your starting weight and how much weight have you lost so far? How are you doing with your Protein and Fluid intake every day? What are you doing for exercise?

It's hard to say without knowing more about your situation. Also, what is your expectation for weight loss and is it reasonable? I have found that many people on here have VERY unrealistic expectations regarding the weight they think they should be losing...

The lower your bmi the slower the weight will come off. If you are losing on average one pound a week that is the normal weight loss for non-surgery patients. really try not to compare your weight loss journey to others. We are all different. I have yet to have my surgery. The doc wanted me to lose 15#'s, which will put me right at 40 bmi. I'm hoping to have my surgery 1st part of December.

I agree with Kimberb, my highest weight was 209 prior to pre op liquid diet and before surgery I was 199 and after my bypass which I did it 18 months ago I became 159 but totally stopped losing more! Last week I started another liquid diet and boom, I lost 4 pounds, presently at 155 and Still have to lose another 20 pounds in order to lose all my excess weight! Presently lost 75% of my excess weight! When I read other people's success story see that I lost what they've lost in just 2 months and get discouraged! I guess they had better results than me! But I read a lot of feedbacks and I realized I never took enough liquid on daily basis and now I Increased it to 48-64 oz, I start to lose little bit and that's good news for me! Thank you everyone for your efforts and input! It really helps and appreciated!

On the day of surgery I weighs it at around 220 pounds. I have a minimum of 50g of Protein and I can't do much Excersice due to my leg injury. Which I want to get operated only after I have lost at least 40 pounds. My goal weight is 160 pound which I find a reasonable goal. I'll try increasing my Water intake but any other suggestions?

How much have you lost in the 3 months and how much did you expect to lose in 3 months? 50g of Protein seems to be on the low side - what Protein target were you given? What's your current Fluid intake?

A leg injury can make exercise difficult but not impossible. Try going to youtube and doing a search for chair exercises, chair yoga and chair dancing - any activity helps!

I was told to take around 50-70g of Protein a day. What is ur Protein target?

I dint keep any expectation on what weight I want to reach in 3/6/9 month. I just have a general goal weight to get to in a year's time.. 70% off my excess weight.

I try to keep active with house work n do got for yoga.. Try not to stretch the ankle a lot.

I trying drinking at least 1.5ltr of Fluid a day but Water is still very hard on my stomach.

I had my surgery 3 months ago and lost 50lbs by my 2 month post op checkup. My dr explained that now that I'm carrying so much less weight I'm burning less calories to do basic daily activity and that I would have to supplement that lower calorie burn with exercise. So I joined the gym 2 weeks ago and work out like a bandit 4-5 days a week and some days double workouts. And now I'm gaining weight. 3lbs to be exact. I'm so worried and frustrated. I have too much to lose. Any suggestions?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
