This will be the best thing you ever did! The risks are small and the benefits huge! The pre-op diet really will set you up in a way you mean to go on. Good luck!

You could always ask specific questions about what your worried about, but general nerves are normal! I was fine until I was on my way to the operating romm and I got a bit teary, then all I remember was waking up and thinking I had done it!!

You will be fine!!

please dont worry you will be fine. if i can do this you can, i am a big wimp and i was fine. i remember coming round thinking god is that it I dont remember a thing. They give you pain releif so you wont feel a thing, and even after my op i didnt need any thing as i was fine.

I think I thought I would be there why they were doing it op and see everything, I know i wouldnt but in my head I was scared of them cutting me as I had never had a op b4 but it was over so quick I was back in my room in bed and I had done it. ;)

The concern i have are mostly to do with complications and possible failure to lose weight, also the pathetic back up in the UK regarding Fills and the outrageous costs involved in what is a 5 minute procedure

I am feeling a lot like you Sirusman. My surgery is scheduled 9-19. Start pre op diet tomorrow. It is good to know that someone else is thinking like me.

What you are both feeling is quite normal, like fairydust said you really don't know much about the operation, i am 4 days post op, and yes it has not been plain sailing for me, due to becoming dehydrated and not keeping on top of my pain meds, i had to be re-addmitted, but this was down to me getting things right, feeling much better than i did and on the road to recovery, plus i'm 11lbs down already, that has to be a bonus, haha!

take care

Don't worry. I was banded on the same day as Fairydust and we seemed to work one another through the nerves. lol

I felt like you too. I wanted to lose weight but I was also scared about changing my lifestyle. Even though food is our enemy because we couldn't control ourselves, it was also a best friend because it always was there.

It's hard to break up even a harmful relationship because we get used to things and don't like change...it's no different when it's your relationship with food. Just like a 'human' breakup the pain lessens every day until you just can't feel that remorse any longer.

Maybe not the best comparison but the best I could do first thing in the morning sans coffee. lol

The lifestyle change is not my major concern,it is the lack of fill centers in the Uk and when you find one the cost is totally unjustifiable.

I just had my fill last night 1st one and it was fine, my whole journey so far as been great, after the op I had no pain, and having the fill was fine, it took 2 attempts to find, as my stomach muscle are thick but he found it, he did think he would have to do it under xray but it was fine.

I get 2 free fills which were inc in my price of £5750, and then after they are £100.

I know it only takes mins todo but I think of it as this, If I need 5 to reach my sweet spot then it's £500 split maybe over a yr, and if that means I will be slim and heathly then its worth it.:D

you are going to be fine, stay positive you are doing the right thing.:kiss2:

had my fill done in Telford or its actually closer to Wellington at the princess royal hospital with mr diggory. It was his second attempt first time at his clinic he could not find it so went back a few days later to have it done under fluro. He charges 150 first appt then 100 thereafter. to have it done with fluro hospital charges an extra 75. That is still loads cheaper than having surgery here even if you will need 10 fills which is doubtful. No I didnt get the package deal, I am not much of a group person and don't think they can tell me anything different that I haven't already read on several support sites. Obesity Help is a good one if you haven't tried it yet, loads of info there for all kinds of WLS

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
